Miracles

Hey friends Its Sylvia Nwokolo, and I'm glad you have joined me on this journey to enlighten you to thrive and be all that you were purposed to be. Today I want to talk to you about what is possible – what is defined by the Cambridge dictionary as an unusual and mysterious event that is thought to have been caused by a God because it does not follow the usual laws of nature – that is called Miracles. I want us to dive in to a side of God that we can often take for granted but if we fully understand can be a breakthrough for us. Of recent I had to grasp this side of God and it has really become an eye opener to me. What I have come to realise with God is that you can never know everything about him and that’s why he is God. There is always something new to discover about his nature.

In talking about miracles, I would have to explain the sovereign nature of God. Sovereign means one possessing supreme or ultimate power. We know that God created the whole world and set the whole universe in motion; the knowledge of this is so vast that science continually discovers something new about God’s creation. Now it is so easy to fall into the trap of 'he sera sera, whatever will be will be', without realising that God is sovereign and he can change things for you – he can interrupt the motion of the universe for your sake. How you might ask, Sylvia show me this is true. Ok that’s no problem, there are evidence in the bible of this, and evidence in the lives of many. But let’s start from the bible. There is the story of Joshua, when they were fighting against the neighbouring cities and in the midst of their fight at Gibeon, Joshua spoke to the lord saying in the sight of the Israelites.

'Sun stand still over Gibeon, and you moon over the valley of Aijalon, then the sun stood still and the moon stopped till the nation avenged itself on its enemies. The sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day! '

A full day! Wow! This can be seen in Joshua chapter 10 vs 12 and 13. How can what was automated in nature be stopped like this? The answer is they tapped into God’s sovereign nature. Yes he created the sun and moon and put it in motion but he can interrupt it because he is sovereign. You would say he didn’t speak, Joshua spoke, yes Joshua spoke but God gave him the authority to. Let’s look at another nature interrupting story, earlier on in the book of numbers in the bible, while the Israelites were camping in the wilderness and grumbled about wanting meat. God told Moses to tell them he would feed them meat for up to a month and Moses even asked God how can you feed meat to 600,000 in the wilderness? And God said Is the lords arm too short? Now you will see whether or not what I said will come true for you– see that in Numbers 11:23. And what do you think happened? God interrupted the nature of birds to fly in the sky by sending a wind that drove the birds into the Israelites camp. Our Sovereign God! Let’s not stop here, let’s move into the new testament and dive into the story of the virgin birth. It takes a woman and a man for a baby to be formed, but God in his sovereign power brought forth a baby through Mary without the help of a man. Talk about interrupting nature right there.

When we wrap our heads around this we can accept the truth our spirit was already aware of, that God is the all powerful God, he is sovereign and he can move mountains for your sake. We often limit God by thinking, 'oh this has never been done' or 'this can never be done' or 'the doctor said this or that', but do you believe that God can override nature? He can interrupt nature to bring forth his word spoken in the name of Jesus. The bible says he will hasten his word to perform it, that means he makes sure his word comes to pass. Jesus also said heaven and earth may pass away but my words will never pass away.

Are you limiting God with your small thinking? Are you basing your circumstances on man’s word instead of God’s incorruptible word? Our God is able to do immeasurably more than we ask or imagine according to his power at work within us. You might ask, Sylvia do I really have power? Yes you do because that same spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead lives in you. You already have the power in you, now it's time to utilise it by taking the word God has spoken concerning your circumstance and speaking to that circumstance. Speak it till you believe it with every fibre of your being; Speak it till you have that knowing that you have already got what the word says. Friends God has done all he needs to do for us as believers to live in victory, but we are often limited by ignorance – lack of knowing that we already have it. The word says we are more than a conqueror and an overcomer. You might wonder, why would God interrupt nature for my sake? I would answer your question with yet another scripture - Romans 8:32 which says He who did not spare his only son but gave him up for us all how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? You get it? Why will Jesus pay the ultimate sacrifice to have us back with God, and then God will refuse to give us all things? He paid the ultimate price for us, so nothing can separate us from his love. My friend, you need one word from God, one scripture that you feel resonates with you and your situation and do as I said earlier – speak it till you believe it without a shadow of a doubt and watch his miracle take place in your life. It's not by works, power or might. You already have it my friend. I would like to here the testimony of your breakthrough.

Until next time my friend, its your host Sylvia Nwokolo reminding you to keep winning, shining and thriving. God bless.
